Here’s another poetry contest. Can you think of the greatest images that unfold your Poem into a scene of a cataclysm or devastation? You can research a historical event that you have found interesting or would always desire to represent from your perspective. Put yourself into the scene as an observer or bystander and, making use of a catalog or list, take stock of everything you see and hear. Extend your descriptions as fully as you can, and vary your poem.

Here are some examples: Holocaust, Chernobyl disaster, Cold war, 9/11, World War II, and the great depression among others.
