Sundowner Writing Contest
Huzzah!
I am spellbound by the solar magic performed by writers from all around the globe for this collection. Over the last couple of months, it has been a splendid experience reading your literary masterpieces. One by one,
the majority of the submissions found themselves placed under the winner’s category, making this one of the most difficult judging processes in the history of Wingless Dreamer. But thanks to countless cups of coffee and a librarian’s heart, we did it.
The Sundowner Anthology is truly one of a kind and is highly recommended for those seeking premium-quality poems and short stories. I can assure you, it will be worth every moment of your evening reading time. I felt genuinely elated witnessing the creativity brewing within these submissions. The uniqueness lies in the grounded sensory poetic devices that beautifully blend organic elements with human emotions. An editor’s kiss.
Winner or not, congratulations on never giving up on yourself, trusting your writing skills, and submitting your work to us. We have made sure to leave no room for doubt when it comes to editing, print quality, artwork, and all the little details in between. Towards the end, I would simply like to say — please continue supporting our publishing community. We dedicate a significant part of our lives to making this art possible. We are a non-profit publishing community driven by passion for literature. If you love literary blogs, podcasts, writing contests, or simply do not know how to begin your writing journey, we are here for you. We personally take care of every manuscript because writing is both serious and deeply personal. Happy reading.
With regards,
Ruchi Acharya

The first runner-up is
SUNDOWNER - HEIDI
Heidi is a contemporary poet whose writing explores the tender spaces between heartbreak and healing. Her work moves through love, loss, growth and self-rediscovery with honesty and quiet strength, offering readers words for feelings they often struggle to name. Blending vulnerability with resilience, she writes for the hearts that loved deeply, let go slowly, and are learning to rise again. Rooted in lived experience, her poetry embraces both the ache and the awakening — the chaos and the calm — with a voice that is raw, reflective and deeply human. She believes even the heaviest seasons can soften into light, and that sharing our truth is one of the bravest forms of healing.
The second runner-up is
BURNT SIENNA - T. ALLEN BURNETT
T. Allen Burnett is a high school chemistry teacher in New Jersey who returned to poetry writing in July 2025 after a 37-year hiatus. His work has been accepted for publication in Wingless Dreamer's anthology I Don't Feel Anything. His poems explore trauma, desire, heritage, and the complexities of identity and recovery. He draws from his North Carolina roots and his experiences navigating gender, sexuality, and family violence. He lives in Pennsylvania with his wife, Crystal.
